Understanding Directing

Directing a film requires a complicated and comprehensive expertise. Not all can reach the level of legendary director like John Ford or Billy Wilder. There are three areas in making decisions is very important to determine the type of a director: (1) Interpretation of the movie script from the form of text into a visual form (2) The manner in which the player directs and (3) How to maximize the camera as director for his film storytelling tool.

Here is not the problem or the most advanced camera technology, but the talent factor. Many good films released 50-60 years ago in which the film at the time when technology was not as good now that talent plays a big factor.

A good director has a certain attitude in responding to the text, whatever its genre. In addition he was able to bring the manuscript text in the form of films that surprise and make the audience impressed.

Sometimes this is not a matter of intelligence but of how a director with a slick set goals and what he wants to achieve its objectives. There is a difference between a smart director and a good deal. A smart director can make a film with a neat editing and technical director, while capable of giving the audience a good viewing experience both layers of a good actor until an interesting storytelling.

It is important for the audience that the film is presented to build a certain kind of experience. For example Cloverfield mock documentary that presents the kind of awful that made as the original, or paranormal activity that relies on a visual display such as CCTV cameras in the building tension.

Before the film into visual form, first form of a script and a director should be able to understand the text and analyze the factors pulling to make a movie. Wishes of the director can be a benchmark. Does the director want to highlight the main character who suffers? Or have a specific political message?

But depending on your style as a director, whether you are concerned with story or characters? And of course depends on your mentality to be tested consistency in learning and work in this field.
